Well it was raining when we made camp at Yosemite Pine RV Park
http://www.yosemitepinesrv.com/. It is a nice park with a swimming pool, volley ball court and a petting farm for the kids..It offers cabins as well as tents that reminded me of Mongolian "rondavels". Okay this bit is for Sharon and Robie - well there was a contingent of "dot" Indians, there must have been at least 25 kids and adults. Being a Saturday, it was quite busy. It has rained all night so we were not sure if we were going to make it to Yosemite today so we decided to take a trip back to the local village of Groveland and top off with some diesel so that I had a full tank as you never know where or what you are going to get in these parts. It was pretty muddy and wet so Betty managed to find herself a real bargain - "snowboots" at 40% off = $6.45!

The weather has faired up a bit so we have made a decision to go to Yosemite as it might be our one and only chance however thunderstorms are forecast for the afternoon and the advice I am given is that we need to drive over a 6,000' pass and it may get snowed in and we will not be allowed through and could spend the night in the park.
It's a 25 mile drive from the RV park to Yosemite - we drove for miles through pine forests and we were starting to think Yosemite was going to be a "dead loss". How wrong we were!..as we travelled deeper into the Park, we were heralded by the sound of thundering water and gargantuan monoliths of granite.Outstanding!! We were gobsmacked by the numerous awe inspiring waterfalls.
As it turned out the weather was kind to us and we had a terrific day.
Here is a selection of our photos taken from hundreds that we took, nothing but nothing can portray the visual overload that we saw today.

The entry to Yosemite National Park as I am pointing out. From here it is another 25 miles to Yosemite Village in the Yosemite Valley.

Dead pines either controlled burnt or forest fire. |

Our drive took us through a large area that had been burnt out and although atractive was not very promising. |
|
Finally we can to what is called tunnel view. There are several of these through the park.
I had to show at least this picture in all its glory, this was a totally site to behold and I am sure that the picture does not do the spectacular view true justice, it is a view straight up a hugh valley with a waterfall way off in the distance and the river with rapids flowing all the way down.

Cascade Creek - just one of the many vistas at Yosemite. |

Folks I need to remind you these are not postcards, we actually stood there and took these pictures of this wonderful scenery. This view is called "The Tunnel".

Torrents of water flowing from the "Bridalveil" Waterfall. The waterfall absolutely sprays everything from its great height, hence the rain coats. |
|
The water just rushes headlong at tremendous speed from the watefall over granite boulders and into the many creeks. |
|
Swinging Bridge - one of the many picnic spots at Yosemite. A stunning picture - check out the reflection of the waterfall on the calm river. |
|
Another waterfall! |

Our expectations for Yosemite National Park have not been let down it is a wonderful place with views to take your breath away at every turn and I would seriously recommend everyone to visit this park.
