There are several scenic stopovers along Highway 101 but as we wanted to be in Salem by the 17th, we did not stop and sample any of them. |
Huge redwood trees and winding roads! |
Canopy of trees-some of the roads required headlights on. |
Yes the Yeti apparently lives on but we didn't stop to check him out. |

On arrival in Eureka we made camp at a place called Mad River Rapids RV Resort 7 miles north of Eureka http://madriverrv.com/ a rather basic but friendly RV park right on highway 101, clean, presentable and cheap.
I had promised Betty that this was the part of the world to have seafood and that we should eat out, after driving into Eureka and wandering around we settled on a seafood restaurant and we were not disappointed the quality of the food was excellent. We started with a Dungenous crab cocktail which was full of crab meat and then I had Halibut and Betty had Sole both dishes were huge and delicious. A great meal at a fair price and a good way to finish off a long day.
I loved the Redwoods. Your photos bought back lovely memories of our drive through there. We didn't stop at the same restaurant and have the food you described, but wished we had. Sounds right up our alley!
