Lake Tahoe, California & Nevada

We have been enjoying the last couple of days at Lake Tahoe and what can you say about it, everyone knows Lake Tahoe for its skiing. Lake Tahoe is split into two regions the Californian side and the Nevada side, the Californian side is all low set timber buildings which are very attractive and allow for a great family vacation, drive across the state line into the Nevada section and it is high rise concrete buildings (well at least 4 of them) which are all casinos, the look of the place is totally different.

Lake Tahoe is definatly a playground for the rich and famous but also caters for the not so well off such as us. The campground KOA South Lake Tahoe http://koa.com/campgrounds/lake-tahoe/ is set in a nice pine forrest and is very restful however at the moment it is undergoing some maintenance so the pool is empty and there is construction work going on.

Here is our collection of pictures for the last couple of days.

Going to LakeTahoe via Placerville.

Charming Alpine house.

This house had tulips blooming.

Another beautiful aspect of Lake Tahoe.

I know folks it must be getting boring looking at all this wonderful scenery that we are enjoying but hey somebody has to do it and we do not mind sharing it with you. It is such a hugh difference to a few weeks ago when we were in the Arizona and Utah deserts which were hot and dusty and now it is cold, lush and green. Which do we prefer? Well I love the desert and the heat but Betty enjoys the cool and green.

We thought this was cute, it is a restaurant.

We managed to have a round of golf at Tahoe Paridise Golf Club which is set into the side of a mountain so you are either hitting up the hill or down the hill and all of the greens have a lot of slope to them, no such thing as a flat green here. They have had a lot of rain so we could not take the cart on the back 9 and played the front 9 twice. With the ground being so soft the ball sticks where it lands and you get no roll whatsoever.

Golfing at Tahoe Paradise Golf Club, gorgeous views.

We were lucky enough to have a coyote run across the 16th hole!

The remains of the snow were at the high end of the course and created a lot of water runoff.
Basil and Nola arrive tonight from Coarsegold so Betty is planning to spend the day cooking dinner for them while I do some maintenance on the truck and RV.

  1. Keep up the good work with the blog. We are enjoying it. Hmm - desert vs cool climate. I love the scenery of the colder places with the greenery, lakes and snow capped mountains, but the desert is very appealing too - so long as it is not toooooo hot for toooo long.
