Mystic, Connecticut

11/9/14 - Mystic, Connecticut

We arrived at KOA Mystic, (Kampsites of America...no wonder the kids have problems spelling) round about 2.30pm after having stopped in Westerly, Rhode Island to get 4 new tyres put on our Al, our 5th wheel.  This shot was taken from our bedroom window at around 6.30pm. What a glorious exhibition of pastel colours over the swimming pool area.

The USS Nautilus SSN571 was the world's first nuclear powered submarine. It is docked at Groton, there is no charge for the self conducted tour of the sub. More info at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Nautilus_(SSN-571).

Brilliant weather for a trip on board the Nautilus.

Hah!...how many times have I watched David Henderson and Richard Basehart giving the orders for periscope up in "Voyage to the bottom of the Sea".
Inside the Nautilus..the officer's dining room.
You can tell I am not technically wired as I haven't a clue as to what this area is.  Me thinks it was the radio control room.. my attention was definitely not onboard. Maybe I was already thinking about our forthcoming visit to some delicious Crusty Asians (crustaceans) down the road.

Mmm..mmm...yums!Abbott's Lobster Shack at Noank, CT. Tom had the 1 1/2lb. lobster  and 1/2 doz. boiled shrimps. I had 1/2 doz. oysters and the 1 1/4lb. lobster. Oysters were nice but not as nice as the ones from Harbor Seafood, New Orleans.
Okay, time for the fat girl clothes to come out now...another lobster meal!! This time we were on the ball...we brought wine and beer.

How blessed were we...another gorgeous day with a view to match.

One of the many outstanding homes in Noank...the lanes are quite narrow and uneven as one descends towards Fisher's Island Sound. The 3.4mile long Mystic River empties into F.I. Sound.
