From Vermont, we travelled south to a place called Hidden Valley Golf & RV Park in Derry, New Hampshire where we were parked along side the golf course. Unfortunately the owners seem to put more effort into the golf course than the RV park as the wifi is all but non existant and the washrooms were mediocre to say the least. The best thing about it is that we can play as much golf as we want and it is very close to shopping.
The drive from St. Johnsbury, Vermont took us on I-93 South - what a scenic drive. The White Mountains range offers skiing in winter - the "tracks" you see on the side of the mountain is where it is normally snow covered in winter. It was just miles and miles of woods, with huge pine trees hugging both sides of the road like giant brushes in a car wash!
We were only 1 of 2 RVs parked beside the Par 3 golf course, the RV park also offered a 18-hole course. Although we were nestled in a lovely area, the facilities were very poor - 1)no laundry facilities 2)everytime we put the airconditioner on, it dropped the voltage from 110volts to almost 85volts which made the airconditioner sound like it was having a heart attack! This also caused the refrigerator to be less cool. Thankfully we only had a couple of hot days and the weather took a cooler turn. 3)As Tom mentioned the shower facilities were lousy...it must have been bad for Tom to take showers in our RV rather than use the rv park's showers.
The lake beside the 10th Hole on the course, we had beautiful weather during our stay, with min. temps of 11 to 14 celsius and max. temps of 22 to 24 celsius.
What can I say...below where we were parked was "shanty town". These are permanent residents...they kinda build their home around the rv as in putting decking around the rv, shade clothes, mosquito netting etc. making them look like MASH units!
Unfortunately to get to the back 9 holes, meant having to drive virtually through shanty town.
The beautifully tree lined drive into the RV park. Just loved the greenery everywhere!
Derry has some beautiful homes, I especially loved this one with its manicured lawns.
