McCormick, South Carolina

5 June-9th June 2013 - McCormick, S. Carolina

Well the trip from Yemassee to Savannah Lakes Village took us a little longer than anticipated. We had to make an unplanned stop in Barnwell to get an oil change done on the truck - the low oil pressure warning light had come on not long after we started the journey.   At least on this occasion, we didn't have to wait on the roadside with roadkills!

What a gorgeous place Savannah Lakes is - this is Ron and Barbie's home where we spent 4 wonderful days.

Barbie's garden is filled with lovely hydrangeas, day lilies, hibiscus, roses etc.

Birds abound in their little slice of heaven - we saw blue birds building nests, humming birds getting their feed of sugar syrup, woodpecks flitting from tree to tree and a gorgeous little cardinal.

Tom helping Ron with the gasoline to fill up the boat.It had been raining on and off and we decided to take a quick spin on the lake in between the showers.

Admiral Ron behind the wheel - yes, he is a true blue retired Navy Admiral.

Shadow decided he wanted to go for the boat ride as well - he is such a sook!

From the pontoon, we could see the 18th hole of one of the 2 golf courses that is part of the residential estate.

Our friend, Barbie - she teaches etiquette, life skills and ballroom dancing.

Phil their son with Shadow - he's thinking about jumping on to the seat...the dog that is, not Phil!

Monticello Golf Course. Its quite a challenging course with lots of undulations, rolling hills - made even more challenging that day by the carts on path rule due to the recent rains.

The Monticello Golf Course Club House - what a fab club house, breakfast was pretty good there too!
The happy foursome at  Tara's for a wine degustation dinner - for extra fun, a murder mystery was included during the course of the dinner.

Tara Golf Course which is the # 2 course at Savannah Lakes

Barb at golf with us on the Tara Golf Course.

What an idyllic hideaway - the bottom of Ron and Barbie's property.

Heather, the Hinkel's daughter and Sydney their granddaughter out by the lakeside.

Riley and her sister Sydney having a great time getting wet and muddy.

  1. No wonder you said you had a great time in South Carolina. It looks so beautiful, and to have friends to spend time with - even better.
