Texas City, Texas

22/4/13 to 15/5/13 - Texas City, TX

This is the home of our friends Bev and Kent - we were parked on their side driveway. We met Bev and Kent when we lived in Singapore, lost touch with them for about 30 years or so and managed to re-establish contact last year. We were only supposed to be there for a week, leave the RV there for the week whilst we were on the cruise.  As it turned out, with all the problems with the truck it was a blessing that we were able to wait out at their home. After this episode, they may be glad we only show up every 30 years or so..ha!ha!

The Bluebonnet was designated state flower Texas in 1901. It is also known as buffalo clover and wolf flower...as in Lupinus.

Aahh..Shrimp heaven...Bubba's Shrimp Palace in San Leon. All you can eat on Monday for $9.99 and best of all...gluten free cornmeal breading used!! How good is that! I am mentally doing cartwheels and a fist pumping...and you thought Meg Ryan was happy in "When Harry met Sally".

Capt. Kent (yes, he is a corporate pilot) with Tom.  He'll fly your 737 for you if you need a pilot, or if you have a Gulfstream, he fly dat too!

Looking out on to the bay, unfortunately not a brilliant photo of Bev..sorry Bev.

Some people might know this, Texas City was the birth place of the USAF.

A replica of the Wright Brother's invention is on display at this park.

A North American F-100 fighter is also there to commemorate the birthplace.
